Chaplains
work as part of the staff team and are concerned with the spiritual
wellbeing of everyone in Sobell House. We offer spiritual and
pastoral care and support to patients, families, staff and volunteers
whether or not they have a particular faith.
Patients in Sobell House sometimes have particular concerns or find that
being here raises questions about deep things in life. Some people find it
helpful to talk things over with someone in a supportive and confidential
way. Chaplains are available to listen and to offer support and spiritual
care in the way that is helpful to each person.
There is a chapel in Sobell House which welcomes people of every faith and
none. It provides a quiet space where people can reflect and find refreshment
and peace.

When
requested, we are happy to liaise with representatives of different
local faith communities in order to ensure that people have the
support they need. Christian services are held in the chapel
or a chaplain can pray with people or share communion with them
on the ward.
Chaplains based in Sobell House work closely with the Trust Chaplaincy Team.
The Trust Roman Catholic chaplain visits Roman Catholic patients in Sobell
House and there is always a Roman Catholic priest and another team chaplain
on call.
