Why
choose Sobell House Hospice Charity?
“Our aim is to offer psychological, social and spiritual
care to those facing illness, death and bereavement. In partnership
with all those involved,
we focus on quality of life, respecting the uniqueness of each person who comes
to the Hospice. We seek to contribute to the development of palliative care through
education and research.”
Sobell House Hospice Charity is a unique organisation that has been supporting
Sir Michael Sobell House for 33 years. The Hospice provides care and support
to residents of Oxfordshire affected by life-limiting illnesses and their families.
It currently costs nearly £3.5 million a year to run and depends greatly
upon the funds raised by the Charity to carry out its vital work.
At any one time, we are helping hundreds of patients to live as constructively
and creatively as possible in the time they have available. The focus is very
much on the individual and the family, through every stage of their treatment
and care. Patients with life-limiting illness often need more care than those
whose illness is curable or chronic. As a result they can feel vulnerable and
disadvantaged.
The Hospice and Charity has, and will, touch the lives of so many and you will
find that your employees will respond extremely well to you partnering with a
charity which may have already had a direct impact on them, their family and
close friends.
Those visiting the Hospice for the first time often comment that it is not the
gloomy and depressing place they had imagined it to be. Instead they find a place
that is full of life and even joy.
We are genuinely committed to our work here at the Charity and
really enjoy what we do so we hope our partnerships will be long
term and will help us to continue
the unique work done at the Hospice.
We would be delighted to come and speak to you and your staff and tell you about
how the Charity benefits the local community, or your staff can visit us at the
Hospice. This means that they will know exactly how the money they raise is being
used to benefit the people in our care.
